Brighton
The city of Brighton is a sea-side resort in the south of the country, on the shore of the English Channel. At the end of the 18th century Doctor Richard Lewes prescribed his patients sea air and sea bathing in Brighton and soon this fishing village became a fashionable resort. George IV became the first King to visit Brighton for bathing with his courtiers. Victoria station in London was purposely built as a direct link to Brighton. Today, on a hot day thousands of people from all the parts of the country occupy the 7- kilometres beach of Brighton. Apart from a relaxing day, Brighton can offer us excellent fish restaurants, narrow Victorian streets with antique shops and The Royal Pavilion, built in the Indo-Saracenic style, a former a seaside retreat for George IV, which can be visited.
